Much
is heard in our nation, the USA, recently about the
dangers
to our country from the attacks and activities
of Terrorists, and this is a great danger. However
Biblical and secular history teaches us that there
is a much greater
danger to our nation than any outside, or inside Terrorists
attacks and activities can ever be. The source of this
danger is originating within our own boundaries, and
is being nurtured by perhaps well meaning, but sadly
misled, fellow citizens. This Greater Danger is the
attack being conducted upon our nation’s Christian Heritage,
the moral fiber and the very Foundation of our Nation’s
greatness. It is being carried on in many segments of
our society, by our media, a segment of the legal profession,
and perhaps the most insidious area, our schools, by
and through the courts of our nation. The object of this
attack is to take from a certain selected segment or
our citizens’ the very rights these attackers so
vigorously defend for themselves, freedom of Worship,
freedom of Speech, and freedom of Press. The segment
of our society targeted to lose these Rights is that
segment of our citizens who believe in God, and especially
those who believe in God’s crucified and resurrected
Son, Jesus the Christ. These beliefs and teachings
are the very basis of our Christian Heritage. Our nation
is great only because of our belief in and our sincere
efforts to practice the beliefs of our Christian Heritage.
Throughout history, Biblical or secular, whenever nations,
which have been great, cease to acknowledge God as
Creator,
and Lord of creation, and cease to keep and respect
His commandments, God brings them down, and their greatness
is taken from them. In The Declaration of Independence signed by our
Founding Fathers on July 4, 1776, the above Rights
are identified as Self Evident Truths, Endowed upon
all men by their CREATOR. This Declaration of Independence
was the document prepared as a prelude to, and the
justification for the framing of our Constitution to
establish a government securing these rights equally
to each individual Citizen, then and in the future.
Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of our Declaration
of Independence so described these rights, and stated
that among these rights are the Rights to Life, Liberty
and the pursuit of Happiness. It is evident the framers of our Constitution obviously
agreed with the author(s) of our Declaration of Independence
concerning the prime importance of the freedom of,
and to, these specific Rights, for after defining the
form and framework of our Republic in the first seven
Articles of our constitution, and defining how the
government should function, their very next act was
by way of Amendments to precisely define these specific
rights and freedoms in the next ten Articles, of the
Constitution, often referred to as the Bill of Rights,
Article I obviously being considered the most important. Article
I, under Amendments states: “Congress
shall make no law respecting an establishment of Religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging
the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right
of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition
the government for a redress of grievances.” Note
the order of importance, freedom of Worship, freedom
of Speech, and freedom of the Press. It
is obvious that their intent was to avoid and deny
the government any right to establish any national
church as an intermediary between God and man,
and that they wished to establish clearly every individual’s
right and freedom to worship God in a direct relationship
between that individual and God, his Creator. The
additional rights set forth in this clause are
simply the corollary
rights necessary to ensure our religious and other
freedoms, especially the freedom of Speech, and
the freedom of the Press. Our Government was established,
and our Constitution was ratified in 1791. For
approximately the first 150 years following, these
rights of individuals were consistently upheld
and reaffirmed by our legislative and judicial bodies.
In 1892 the Supreme Court even issued a decision
declaring that the United States of America is a
Christian
Nation.
(Have you ever heard of that decision being cited
as Law by Precedent in any cases recently? NO! On
the contrary, cases regarding any references to God
in
our government are decided by vague references
to the
personal correspondence of Thomas Jefferson, who
is credited with authoring the Declaration of Independence,
affirming the existence of a Creator, but who had
no
part in writing our Constitution.) The great importance
our forefathers placed upon God and the necessity
for his Guidance to assure our nation’s success and
prosperity, then and in the future, is amply revealed
by the multitude of references to God, displays of
the Ten Commandments, and Christian Art, etched in
stone, and adorning the multitudes of our government
buildings in our nation’s Capitol City as
well as the capitol cities of our States and our
County
seat cities. To this day our national Legislative
bodies and our Supreme Court sessions are still
opened with
a prayer to Almighty God for guidance and protection. What
has happened in the last 75 to 80 years to bring
about the many attacks being made upon our Christian
Heritage and Religious Freedoms? Our next posting
on this web site will offer our opinion concerning
some
of the reasons and causes for this change, along
with some suggestions regarding what we, as concerned
citizens,
can do to protect these endowed rights for ourselves,
our children and our grandchildren, and help restore
our Nation’s Christian Heritage. Note: We would welcome your comments, opinions, and
criticism, positive or negative, in response to these
postings. Especially would we welcome inquiries concerning
the salvation of your eternal soul, made available
by God to any person whosoever desires it through the
love mercy and grace of almighty God and His Crucified
and Resurrected Son, Jesus Christ. (John 3:16) We will
attempt to answer any and all queries and responses.
There will be no charge, and we request that you do
not send money. This is a Christian church sponsored
web site, seeking to help the unsaved find Salvation
through Jesus Christ, and seeking to help save and
restore the Christian Heritage of the United States
of America.
